Event Overview
The NMSU CAMP (College Assistance Migrant Program) sent a small delegation of 5 students to the USHLI (United States Hispanic Leadership Institute) National Conference in Chicago in February 2024.The 5 CAMP scholars had the opportunity to attend keynotes and workshops led by prominent Latino leaders at this premier cross-generational Hispanic leadership event. They networked with professionals, recruiters and leadership from across the nation.
A couple of the CAMP students participated in interactive forums at the conference, sharing perspectives from their backgrounds as first-generation college students from migrant farmworker families.
Attending the USHLI conference exposed the small group of CAMP students to inspiring role models and allowed them to build valuable leadership skills. Their participation reinforced CAMP's mission of supporting this population to complete degrees and develop as future Latino leaders.
The delegation's attendance, though limited to 5 students this year, continued NMSU's long-standing relationship with this impactful national conference for Hispanic student development.
