Biography

I am Karla Soto, the youngest of 4 daughters to immigrant parents. Born and raised in the land of enchantment, I was raised in the farms of Hatch, NM. I attended Hatch Valley High School and graduated as the Salutatorian of my class. From a young age I have strived in my academics in hopes of making my parents proud. As a first gen student I have always believed getting my degree is the least I can do to repay my parents for all of their sacrifices.

I am a fourth year student at New Mexico State University and on my way to completing my bachelors in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Language Arts and a minor in Early Childhood Education. My passion for teaching and giving back to my community sprung from a very young age. My love for reading and writing along with giving back to my community have influenced my career decisions. Throughout my COMPA role with NMSU CAMP I aspire to use my educational skills and support my COMPITAS in having a fun and successful freshman year!

My greatest and most joyful roles in life include being an auntie, daughter, and sister. During my free time I enjoy spending time with my family. I also enjoy traveling to my parents hometown in Esmeralda, Durango Mexico. I am a very family oriented woman so anything that includes my family I am all in with a full heart.
