Luis Gomez

Biography
My name is Luis Davis Gomez, and my journey began in Lubbock, Texas, though I spent most of my life in Deming, New Mexico. Raised in a family of hardworking agricultural laborers, I grew up witnessing the dedication and resilience of my parents, who spent their days working tirelessly in the fields. By the age of 11, I too began working in agriculture, an experience that instilled in me a deep appreciation for hard work.
As the first in my family to graduate from high school and later earn a bachelor’s degree, I have achieved something that my parents always dreamed of for me. This accomplishment is not just a personal milestone; it reflects the sacrifices and hard work my parents put in to create opportunities for my future. From a young age, I saw how much they dedicated themselves to providing for our family, often working long hours in challenging conditions.
Their steady support and belief in me were key to my drive to succeed. They encouraged me to pursue my education and taught me the importance of working hard and not giving up. Their journey has had a big impact on my life, reminding me that success can be achieved through hard work and commitment. I keep their lessons in mind every day, and their story continues to motivate me as I follow my own path
As the CAMP Recruiter, I work to support communities similar to the one I grew up in, helping students understand that with the right support and determination, they can achieve their goals. My goal is to help students realize their potential and motivate them to take the steps needed to succeed. I want them to know that they are not alone and that with dedication and the right support, they can turn their aspirations into reality
