Meoqui, Chihuahua

Degree: Spanish, International Business

Biography

I was born in Oklahoma City, OK, but spent most of my life in Mexico, specifically in a town called Meoqui, in Chihuahua. During high school, in the 11th grade, I decided to study in Artesia, NM. I graduated from high school there, and I am currently studying at NMSU. I’m majoring in International Business and also pursuing a double major in Spanish.

Last summer, I interned at the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) in Washington, DC. My work involved researching how the agency could improve its services for Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals. I also interned at Lutheran Family Services Mountain here in Las Cruces, where I assisted with paperwork and helped refugee families settle into their new homes.

In the spring semester of 2024, I went on an exchange to Japan. It was a wonderful experience where I met people from various parts of the world. My classes were in English, but I also took some classes to learn a bit of Japanese. During my stay, I visited several cities in Japan such as Osaka, Fukuoka, Kyoto, Kobe, Tokyo, Ise, and others. Additionally, thanks to the proximity, I was able to visit Korea and Thailand.
