Biography

My name is Daniel Aguilar. I am a Junior at New Mexico State University currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering. I was born in Phoenix, Arizona and relocated to Deming, New Mexico at the age of 5. I am a Deming High School graduate. My farm work history starts at the age of 13 working across many fields in Southern New Mexico. Working at such a young age instilled many valuable lessons in me from a young age, lessons I hope I can pass on and share to many others who have similar stories.

I am currently in my third year of college pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering. I bring in many lessons I learned from working in the farms with me into the classroom. Lessons such as perseverance, discipline, and grit.

Securing an Internship in Houston, Texas built on to my knowledge in both an academic and personal sense, knowledge I hope to pass on as a COMPA for Cohort 23. I am excited to support incoming freshman and many other farmworkers looking to pursuit a career in STEM.
