Jesus Lozano is an Electrical Engineering student from Puerto Palomas, Chihuahua, Mexico. He graduated from Deming High School and is currently working toward completing his bachelor’s degree at New Mexico State University.
His main goals for this semester are to successfully complete all his classes, maintain a strong GPA, and meet the requirements for his scholarships. He also hopes to continue developing his skills as an electrical engineering student and take advantage of opportunities that will prepare him for his future career.
After completing his bachelor’s degree, Jesus plans to pursue a master’s degree to expand his knowledge of power systems and energy. His long-term goal is to build a career in the electrical utility or renewable energy industry, where he can apply his knowledge and skills to make a positive impact.
Jesus explains that CAMP has played an important role in his college journey by providing him with support and a sense of community while encouraging him to continue pursuing his goals. Through CAMP, he has learned the importance of taking advantage of opportunities, believing in himself, and persevering through challenges. The program has also encouraged him to take pride in his background and appreciate the people who have supported him along the way.
After graduating, Jesus hopes to give back by mentoring and supporting students from backgrounds similar to his own, especially those interested in higher education and STEM careers. He wants to share his experiences and help others understand that their circumstances do not have to limit their future. As an electrical engineer, he also hopes to contribute to projects that improve access to safe, reliable, and affordable electricity for communities.
